New Haven Diaper Bank Looking for Operations Manager

New Haven Diaper Bank, Inc. (NHDB) is a private nonprofit organization providing diapers to families who could not other wise afford them and raising awareness of issues having to do with children and poverty.

We are seeking a full time Operations Manager. The Operations Manager will work closely with the Diaper Distribution Program Manager; both report to the Executive Director of the New Haven Diaper Bank. Job Requirements include:

3 – 5 years experience working in a related management position
Bachelors degree preferred
Strong interpersonal skills both written and verbal
Experience with creating and maintaining databases
Experience managing grants and contracts
Experience with human resources management
Proven ability to learn quickly and to teach others

Volunteer Opportunities Available at Jewish Family Services

JFS is looking for residents of all ethnic and religious backgrounds and ages to become part of their volunteer team. Positions that are available include:

Child care – Third Wednesday of each month from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. the JFS office in New Haven. This position entails supervising a children’s activity grou.

Shabbat Meal Deliverer - Bi monthly delivery of food (every other Thursday or Friday) to homebound New Haven area residents. Meals are picked up at the JFS main office and delivered to assigned client.

Tutors for Children - Work with a child one-on-one to help with homework and academic studies. One to two hours per week.

Friendly Visitor - Become a Friendly visitor and spend quality time with an isolated elderly person in their own home or in an assisted living facility. Share your knowledge, smiles and listening skills.

Office Help – Volunteer in the JFS main office and assist in filing and other general office duties.

analyze data with trendlines, scenarios, and pivot tables

Rabbit Hill Festival of Literature October 25-27

This year’s Rabbit Hill Festival of Literature in Westport focuses on fantasy writers and will include Jeanne DuPrau, Gail Carson Levine, Rich Riordan, Neal Shusterman and Andrea Davis Pinkney with an opening night talk by Leonard Marcus, dinner with the authors, and a tour of Weston Woods Studios.
