This unique, statewide juried competition for unpublished writers and illustrators of children’s books boasts 10 winners or finalists who are now published or under contract for publication.

Categories include Picture Book (text only), Illustrated Picture Book (author and illustrator must be the same person), Illustrator’s Portfolio, Middle Grade Novel, and Young Adult/Teen Novel.
A $250 prize is awarded to each winner along with press and publicity in local newspapers, libraries and book stores. The major sponsor of the Tassy Walden Awards for New Voices in Children’s Literature is Barnes & Noble Booksellers. Submission deadline for manuscripts and portfolios is February 13, 2008.
