The New Haven Board of Aldermen will continue its series of public hearings on the mortgage foreclosure crisis with three community meetings in the areas of the city hit hardest by predatory lending practices.
In addition to being public hearings, these meetings will be resource sessions where homeowners threatened by foreclosure can meet with local service providers and begin receiving assistance. The Board of Aldermen has been working with Mayor John DeStefano, Jr.’s Mortgage Foreclosure Task Force, including individuals from Neighborhood Housing Services, the Yale Law School Clinic, and the Greater New Haven Community Loan Fund to develop comprehensive services for victims of predatory lending practices.
Hearings are 5:30-7:30 pm as follows:
- Wednesday, April 30, at Stetson Branch Library
- Wednesday, May 21, at Fair Haven Branch Library
- Wednesday, May 28, at Courtland Wilson Branch Library
