New legislation considers opening state employee insurance pool to municipalities
Just introduced to the CT General Assembly:
Raised Bill 5536 seeks to reduce costs to municipalities and increase benefits for employees by opening up the state employee insurance pool to municipalities, including pubic libraries.
If I read the bill correctly, this would also be available to nonprofit agencies and small companies.

A public hearing is scheduled for March 7 at noon in Room 2E of the Legislative Office Building. This is the only bill scheduled for this hearing.

AAUW Branch Offers Scholarship for Shoreline Woman
The Connecticut Shoreline Branch of the American Association of University Women is offering a $2,000 scholarship to an eligible woman enrolled or planning to enroll full- or part-time in an accredited college or university.
Applicant must have completed at least 60 credits and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. She must also be a resident of one of the following towns: Branford, North Branford, Guilford, Madison, Killingworth, Clinton or Westbrook, and she cannot be related to an AAUW Shoreline Branch member. Award will be determined by the student’s financial need, academic performance and personal qualifications. Application forms can be obtained at public libraries in the towns mentioned or by phoning 483-5989, 453-9793, or 453-4416.
The deadline for applications is on or before May 1, 2008.
