Asian Longhorned Beetles in Connecticut?

If you remember the wooley adelgid, you know how destructive bugs can be for our trees. The Asian Longhorned Beetle may be heading our way (it's been sighted in Massachusets and New York) so heads up!
Please visit http://www.na.fs.fed.us/fhp/alb/slides_images/beetlepics.shtm for details about this potentially serious invasive killer of hardwood species like maples, birches, willows, and poplars. They are about an inch long, shiny black with white spots and striking bands of black and white on their antennae. Look for the adults now through October.
The CT Agricultural Experiment Station in Hamden (974-8618) is looking for information about sightings of these beetles or signs of tree destruction--but don't send them live bugs. A digital photo will do.
