Apply for senior property tax freeze in New Haven

The tax freeze has a $2000 cap on yearly benefit. Any amount over $2000 can either be paid or put into deferral. The tax free benefits end when the property is sold or transferred. Seniors who earn $50,000-$75,000 qualify for a deferral program that allows taxes to be deferred until the property is sold or transferred out of their name.

Applications for the program can be picked up at any of the city’s six senior centers or by calling 946-2272. Application help is available at 946-7854.
