Nuclear Disarmament Day August 6

Mayor DeStefano has issued a proclamation designating August 6 as Nuclear Disarmament Day in New Haven, acknowledging the 64th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Related events sponsored by the New Haven Peace Commission include:

• Aug. 6, 8:15am--Hiroshima Silent Vigil on New Haven Green
• Aug. 6, 6pm--Video conference with Hiroshima survivor at Wilson Library (946-2228)
• Aug. 9, 8:30am--Bicycle Against Nukes, meet at East Rock Peace Park, corner Orange and Spring Sts. (389-9547)
• Aug. 9, 11am--Nagasaki Silent Vigil at East Rock Peace Park, corner Orange and Spring Sts.
