Request a free tree for your street in New Haven

Tree canopies curb downpours and let the rain soak into the soil slowly rather than pouring rapidly through storm drains into Long Island Sound. This decreases flooding and water pollution and retains nutrients in the soil--good for yards and our waterways.

Urban Resources Initiative (URI) is a community nonprofit that works with Yale's School of Forestry and Environmental Studies to foster community-based land stewardship, promote environmental education, and advance the practice of urban forestry, as well as provide Yale students with clinical learning opportunities. Your only obligation is to commit to watering your tree. Make your request here.
